Why Choose Cheryl as Your Counsellor/Psychotherapist?

If you’re searching for a trauma-informed therapist who specialises in supporting families affected by sexual offense arrests, Cheryl combines deep clinical expertise with a gentle, paced approach to healing. Every family’s experience is different. While the shock of “The Knock” is universal, your family’s relationships, support systems, and what you need from therapy will be unique to you. Cheryl tailors her approach accordingly—whether that means focusing on rebuilding family communication, processing your own grief and identity, or developing coping strategies for the practical and emotional challenges ahead.

In your first session, Cheryl prioritises safety and assessment over deep therapeutic work. She’ll listen to your story without judgment, answer your questions about how therapy works, and together you’ll decide if working together feels right. There’s no pressure to dive into difficult material before you’re ready.

Cheryl also understands that healing isn’t linear, and sometimes you need to move slowly. Early on, sessions might focus on stabilisation and building confidence in the therapeutic relationship itself. Only when you feel secure does she gently guide you toward processing the deeper layers—guilt, identity, and rebuilding your sense of self.

If you’re worried about being “too broken” or unsure whether therapy is right for you, Cheryl has supported many families through exactly this uncertainty. She knows what you’re carrying, and she has the training and experience to help you carry it differently.
